Save Time and Money with These Kitchen Hacks

If you purchased every gadget you stumbled across, you probably would not be able to close your cupboards and drawers in the kitchens. Some of the best kitchen hacks utilize what you have. Others are simply thought of with a little creativity.

1. Wine Cork Knife Storage – Now you have something to do with all those wine corks you have been saving! Glue them in four-cork chains, one end to the next, and place them in a drawer besides one another. Store your knives between the rows.

2. Dental Floss Cheese Slicer – If you serve soft cheeses, such as brie and goat varieties, use unflavored dental floss instead of a knife, so the slices don’t don’t get smashed.

3. Cheese Grater Utensil Holder – Mount a cheese grater on a wall upside down to hold your utensils, so you don’t have to clog a drawer with them.

4. Teaspoon Ginger Root Peeler – No fancy peeler is needed for your ginger root. Just use a teaspoon. You won’t waste as much as you would with a knife.

5. Muffin Tin in the Junk Drawer – If your junk drawer is out of control like most are, you will love this hack. Just put an old muffin tin in there. Each space can hold toothpicks, bags of herbs and spices, loose tea, etc.

6. Wooden Spoon to Prevent Messes – Place a wooden spoon across the top of a pot. Wood is a poor heat conductor, so hot water tries to avoid it, thereby reducing the risk of a pot boiling over and creating a huge mess.

7. Butcher Block Counter – A butcher block or large wood cutting board can be placed on your table or over the sink for extra counter space.

8. Cling Wrap Bananas – Place a piece of plastic wrap around the banana stalk to slow down ripening.

9. Pants Hanger Cookbook Holder – Clip your cookbook to a pants hanger and hang from a cupboard handle to keep it out-of-the-way, yet easy to access.

10. File Box Holders – Mesh screened file box holders from your home office can be screwed to the inside of cupboards to hold aluminum foil, plastic wrap, grocery and sandwich bags, paper bags, paper plates, and lids to Tupperware, pots, and pans.

Even if you love spending time in the kitchen, you still probably appreciate helpful hacks that allow you to be more productive.
